About James G. Martin, Esq.
James G. Martin received a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in French from the University of Iowa in 1986. During the course of his undergraduate studies, he spent one year studying at the Universte de Franche-Comte in Besancon, France. James received his Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University in 1994. He is admitted to bars of the states of New York and New Jersey. He started his legal career as a paralegal for one of the oldest immigration law firms in the country— Barst & Mukamal, LLP of New York.
Upon completion of his law degree and admission to the bar, James worked for Passaic County Legal Aid Society for three years in Paterson, New Jersey. After leaving the Legal Aid Society, James worked for a number of immigration law firms in the New York City area. While working in New York, James had the opportunity to appear in the Immigration Courts as well as Federal Court to advocate for the interests of his clients. James has also worked as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in Del Rio, Texas where he appeared in Federal Court on a daily basis to defend undocumented immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
James has also worked on the west coast of Florida as an immigration attorney between 2005 and 2007. James is fluent in the Spanish and French languages.
